Seraphine is painting one of my Fallen Angel collection A collection that will depict all stages. Her namesake is derived from the Hebrew sĕrāphīm (burning ones), a name used in the Bible for the heavenly winged angels surrounding the throne of God. From early on i’ve been intrigued by the whole belief of fallen angels, you couldn’t stop me from reading youth books with it as its subject matter, and a sermons about it was a surefire way to get me to pay attention in church. So it came as no surprise when the concept came and weighed heavily on my mind. She was an absolute joy to work on, blending shades of sienna, umber, and ochre to achieve her skin tone. When envisioning a Burning one I saw the early stages of being ignited. It was important for me to depict that with sure and final strokes of Gold and red. Her wings needed to be full yet light, and since she is a representation of a celestial being I placed steaks of gold throughout her wings.
