Sunday's Best

If you are like me you were brought up in the church, being taught what was right and wrong. How one should carry themselves when out in public unmarried. What isn’t spoken about is the internalized shame we as women can feel about how sensual we are “allowed” to be when it comes at odds with what we were taught in Sunday school. I created this piece because I once struggled with the same internalized shame about how I should carry myself now that I’m an adult who can make her own decisions. It’s less about what the other ladies in the church may feel and more about how I feel. To me, Sunday’s best is the freedom to be who you are, no matter how sexual or sensual others may deem you because you and your God have already done had that talk!
